Ellel Ministries collects various data when you use our website, sign up to our newsletters, make a donation, volunteer, attend an event, make a purchase or are involved in any other way with our organization. This page is here to help you understand how we use the data we collect about you when you sign up for an event, email or postal newsletters, or when you choose to give us money.

Ellel Ministries USA, Inc. is a registered non-profit organization in the United States.

Together “Ellel Ministries”, “we“, “us” or “our” are committed to protecting and respecting your privacy and will only process personal data you provide to us in accordance with applicable privacy laws. The rules on processing of personal data are set out in the General Data Protection Regulation (“GDPR”).

By using our Site users agree that they consent to the conditions set out in this Privacy Policy. When the legal basis for us processing your personal data is that you have provided your consent to that processing, you may withdraw your consent at any time. If you withdraw your consent, it will not make processing which we completed before you withdrew your consent unlawful. You can withdraw your consent by contacting the Data Protection Officer.

Information collection:

If you have given us information about yourself, say when you’ve booked on an event, made a donation, purchased a product, subscribed to a mailing list, created an account or put your name on a mailing list at an event or center, we take that information and enter it into a database which helps us to understand who our supporters and customers are.

We will have let you know when you supplied your information whether you will be signed up to receive any information (for example, when creating a My Ellel account you are giving permission to receive email updates from that Ellel region).

We only collect data that helps us achieve the purpose set out in this Privacy Policy. We will not collect any additional data beyond the data listed below without notifying you first.

Data collected automatically

When you visit and use our Site, we may automatically collect and store the following information:

  • Clicked links; and
  • Content viewed.

Data collected in a non-automatic way

We may also collect the following data when you perform certain functions on our Site:

Data collected on our Site will only be used for the purposes specified in this Privacy Policy or indicated on the relevant pages of our Site. We will not use your data beyond what we disclose in this Privacy Policy.

The data we collect automatically is used for the following purposes:

  • Statistical analysis of use of our website; and
  • Improve the website experience for you and/or other users.

The data we collect when the user performs certain functions may be used for the following purposes:

  • Product and service delivery including payment processing and fraud checks;
  • Administering donations;
  • Sending you mail and newsletters to inform you about our activities, which your support or interest are helping to provide, and informing you about opportunities for partnership through prayer, giving or serving;
  • Informing you about events and ways that you can be involved in our activities;

  • By donating or registering your interest, you agree to the collection and use of information necessary to process your donation or provide you with the information you have requested. At the point of supplying your information, we tell you how your information will be used. Providing your details means that you are agreeing to this use. It will not be used in other ways than is detailed;
  • Furthering our charitable mission (which includes fundraising and securing the support of volunteers); and
  • Enabling us to achieve our strategic and operational goals.

You may choose to unsubscribe from text, mail or email communications at any time without affecting your donations. If you have made a donation, we are legally required to store your data and may contact you regarding your donation, but we won’t use this data for anything else. If you do not want us to email you, do not provide your email address.

Who we share personal data with:

Opt-in data and consent are not shared with any third parties (including subsidiaries and affiliates). 

Other Disclosures

We will not share your data with other third parties, except in the following cases:

  • If the law requires it;
  • If it is required for any legal proceeding; and
  • To prove or protect our legal rights.

If you follow hyperlinks from our Site to another Site, please note that we are not responsible for and have no control over their privacy policies and practices.

SMS:

Text message opt-in data and consent are not shared with any third parties (including subsidiaries and affiliates). If you wish to be removed from receiving future communications, text STOP to opt out.

How long we store your data:

We will keep your personal information only for as long as we consider it necessary to perform the activities listed above.

We have a data retention policy to implement this. We take account of legal obligations and accounting and tax considerations as well as considering what would be reasonable for the activity concerned.

For example, we will retain details of donations for seven years to meet tax and accounting requirements, but we will only hold information provided as part of a newsletter subscription for the length of the subscription.

Legacy income is an important source of income for our beneficiaries. We may keep data you provide indefinitely to carry out the administration of legacies and to communicate with the families of those leaving us legacies.

How we protect your data:

In order to protect your security, we use browser encryption and store all of our data on servers in secure facilities. All data is only accessible to our team members. Our team members are bound by confidentiality agreements.

While we take all reasonable precautions to ensure that user data is secure and that users are protected, there always remains the risk of harm. The Internet as a whole can be insecure at times and therefore, we are unable to guarantee the security of user data beyond what is reasonably practical.

Children:

We do not knowingly collect or use personal data from children under 18 years of age. If we learn that we have collected personal data from a child under 18 years of age, the personal data will be deleted as soon as possible. If a child under 18 years of age has provided us with personal data, their parent or guardian may contact our Data Protection Officer.

Cookies policy:

Cookies are files with a small amount of data, which may include an anonymous unique identifier. Cookies are sent to your browser from a web site and stored on your computer’s hard drive.

Updating your information:

We do appreciate it if you keep your details up to date. You can do so in the same way as updating your preferences (above).

We may use Post Office address search, postcode lists or other available sources to confirm data that you provide us with, where, for example, we are unsure of what you have completed on a form.

We will not use these sources to create data that you have chosen not to provide, for example, if you have left a telephone number blank; if you have a registered change of address with the Post Office and your mail gets returned, we will update your address to the address provided on your returned mail.

Telling us to stop processing:
